Boldly Go

The sky was dark and cloudless. The ground was rocky had a dim yellow-ish hue. I had no idea where I was or how I had gotten there. I slowly and cautiously wandered around the area. I eventually came upon a giant body of liquid. I leaned in closer to look at it. The liquid was dark purple, thick and bubbling. I didn't dare touch it. I suddenly heard a gurgling noise. The liquid started to rise! I stepped back and looked around for something that I could float on. I noticed a fairly big piece of wood floating nearby. I carefully maneuvered onto the wood and held on. I was swept further away form where I had been standing. As I contemplated what to do next, a rowboat came into view. As the boat came closer, I noticed that the creatures inhabiting it weren't human. I didn't even know how to describe them. They were green. How typical. They motioned for me to come aboard. I had two choices...fall into the thick purple goo or join the aliens. I picked the latter. I quickly climbed into the rowboat as the piece of wood floated away. The one alien handed me a shiny silver device. I paused and shot it a puzzled look. It held the device and pointed to the red button on the top. I nodded and hit the button. The device made a noise as it powered up. The alien suddenly turned and shot into the darkness. A red light whizzed past my head. Something was shooting at us. I really had no choice but to help take down whatever was causing the intrusion. I aimed and fired. I was shooting a laser gun! I didn't have the best aim but the enemy was glowing slightly in the darkness which helped. Suddenly the laser fire increased! We barely ducked and dodged the incoming fire. How did more of them get here so fast? I signaled the aliens that we would all fire at the same time. I rolled to the right and fired. We blasted them with all the fire power we had. After a few minutes, to my surprise, the enemies started retreating. Soon we were alone again. I looked down at the gun and then the aliens. I grinned. Today had just become the coolest day ever.
